Adrian Cioroianu - "Looking ahead with fear"

If the future sounds good or if we have to look forward with fear, we will find out in a new event from the series "At UVT, Culture is the Capital!", in which the author, historian and politician Adrian Cioroianu will be our guest of honor.

The conference entitled "Looking ahead with fear. The best era in our history - and the one that scares us the most" will take place on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, starting at 18:00 and will be broadcast live on the Facebook page of the Western University of Timișoara.

Author, historian, journalist, essayist and politician, Adrian Cioroianu is a graduate of the Faculty of History of the University of Bucharest, with a master's degree ("Diplome d'Etudes et des Recherches Approfondies") and a doctorate in history at Laval University in Quebec, Canada, completed by defending the thesis with the title The Myth, the Image and the Cult of the Leader in Communist Romania.

After graduating from the faculty, he became a teacher at the Faculty of History of the University of Bucharest, currently holding the teaching rank of associate professor. He was also a professor at the PRO College in Bucharest, editor of the magazine "Dilema veche" and editor of Gazeta Sporturilor. He made the shows "Hour of History" (Realitatea TV, 2001); “Chiasma. PAX Dialogues" (PAX TV, 2003) and "Totul la vedere" (TVR 1).

Adrian Cioroianu has also published studies and articles in "Lettre International", "Dosarele Istoriei", "Supplimentul de Cultură", "Ziua", "GEO" (Romanian edition), "Sfera Politicii", "Cotidianul", "Revista 22", "Dilema veche", "Radio Romania", "Gazeta de Sud", "Monitorul de Neamț", "Adevărul de Arad", "Formula AS", "Venimetul Zelei", "Student opinion", "Lumea Ieșeanului" , "Free Thought", "Foreign Policy Magazine". He is a member of the Group for Social Dialogue and of the Timișoara Society.
