The educational role of the Western University of Timișoara is also manifested by offering the sports development framework, knowing that through sport we acquire clarity of objectives, perseverance in pursuing them, long-term orientation and, last but not least, the internal motivation to surpass ourselves constant.
UVT will organize a new edition of the UVT Liberty Marathon event on September 26, 2021. Held in the first city free from communism in Romania - Timișoara, under the slogan "Dare to run", the marathon is in its fourth edition, with the aim of cultivating the idea of freedom through sport, health and an independent spirit.
This year, athlete Andreea Răducan will be UVT Liberty Marathon ambassador. The multiple Olympic, world and European champion will sign the medal offered to runners who complete a race in this edition of the marathon (from 2 to 42 km). She thus joins fellow Olympic champions who gave their vote of confidence to the sports event organized by UVT: Constantina Diță (2018), Simona Amânar (2019), Camelia Potec (2020).
With the presence of Andrea Răducan at UVT, the new website was also launched https://libertymarathon.uvt.ro/, a new visual concept, the information reorganized in an accessible manner, which facilitates, among other things, the educational role of the UVT sports event through materials that guide a healthy lifestyle, nutrition and training for running in which we prevent injuries, etc. ., with the contribution of renowned experts from the UVT community.
At the same time, registrations have started: from 11.06.2021 those interested can register, selecting the appropriate race: from 2 to 42 km. Upon registration and later through the account created on the website, depending on the race selected, participants are given more details on how to organize the event, in relation to the evolution of the epidemiological context. Based on the information available now, the event will be able to accommodate 500 people onsite (registered for the timed races) and the other runners will be able to submit proof of the run online. Any updates regarding the number of onsite participants will be communicated in due course to all registrants and those interested in joining the event.
