Every Saturday, the spaces of the Western University of Timișoara resound with the good mood of the more than 100 children who participate in the non-formal education workshops in the field of informatics, organized by CoderDojo UVT. Under the supervision of 15 volunteer mentors, IMF students, the children's creativity, knowledge and technical skills were showcased in the 5 workshops organized in March.
Visual programming with Scratch introduced user-defined blocks for character control. The Python programming workshop proposed a computer graphics session with Turtle. When programming in Java, repetitive structures and abstraction concepts, among the principles of object-oriented programming, were studied. The C++ programming workshop covered working with files as well as solving problems from the last edition of the computer science olympiad. In the web application workshop, we worked with repetitive structures, conditionals, strings and objects in JavaScript.
