The Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timișoara, through the Center for Research in Criminal Sciences, the Universul Juridic Publishing House and the Timiș Bar, are organizing, in collaboration, the Criminal Law Conference In Honor of Viorel Pașca - 70 years old, which will take place on the 23 June 2022, in Timișoara.
Professor of the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timișoara since its establishment, for 25 years, dean of the faculty during 2004-2005, doctoral supervisor and director of the doctoral school in 2005-2016, founder of the Journal of Eastern European Criminal Law (JEECL) and of the Criminal Sciences Research Center within the faculty, Professor Viorel Pașca has been, throughout this time, a consistent promoter of collaborative relationships with important universities and research institutes in the country and abroad and is one among the outstanding voices of criminal sciences in Romania.
The event represents a launch conference of the volume Liber Amicorum Viorel Pașca 70 – Reforma reformei legislatii penale / Reforming the reform of criminal legislation. Recently published by Universul Juridic Publishing House, the volume brings together a series of nearly 50 studies signed by contributors from 6 universities in Romania and 12 universities and research institutes from 8 other countries (China, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Republic of Moldova, Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary). The fact that so many important names in the field agreed to write on this occasion is yet another confirmation of the appreciation that Professor Viorel Pașca enjoys in the academic and professional community.
At the conference, the Romanian contributors to the volume will have interventions.
The conference is addressed both to jurists (magistrates, lawyers, legal advisors, etc.), and to other specialists interested in the evolution and reform of criminal law.
