On September 17, 2020, the Conference was held to present the results obtained in the first year of project implementation "RoRS 337- ROmania Serbia NETwork for assessing and disseminating the impact of copper mining activities on water quality in the cross-border area (RoS-NET2)", a project carried out in partnership by UVT - through the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology, Geography -, together with the Ecological Collaboration Group - NERA Branch, from Caraș-Severin and the Bor Institute of Mines and Metallurgy (Serbia).
The project takes place over a period of 24 months, (10.09.2019-09.09.2021) and has a total budget of 999894 Euros. Through the implementation of this project, expertise and tests are carried out for the physico-chemical and toxicological characterization of water flows and remedial solutions are proposed for the areas where current or former mines are located. In addition, campaigns are carried out to inform the general public, NGOs, organizations and public authorities about the existing situation, the need and the means to solve environmental problems in industrial areas with copper mines and other categories. Also, a knowledge base is created as a monitoring system in the field of environmental protection in the cross-border area, in which mining activities are present and awareness events addressed to young people are organized regarding horizontal themes and environmental issues in the cross-border space. During today's conference, the results obtained in the first year of project implementation and the components planned to take place in the future were presented.
