The West University of Timișoara officially launches, through the related structures of the European External Action Service of the European Union, the "Diplomacy for CSDP Missions" training course, organized under the auspices of ESDC1 (European Security and Defense College).
It enjoys important collaborations with specialists belonging to renowned institutions, such as the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, but also from the Oxford Digital Diplomacy Research Group (Oxford University) and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The course is structured in a pilot format, and registrations are made only through the governmental institutions of each EU member state.
As a result of the strategic projects carried out and its orientation towards the development of the security culture in the academic environment, the Western University of Timișoara obtained in 2020 the status of a member of the European Security and Defense College of the EU, in which it participates, through educational components, to the development of human resources in the EU.
ESDC was established in 2005, with the aim of providing educational programs at a strategic level for the European security and defense policy, embodied in the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP 2). The EU Member States participate through a voluntary effort in this training structure for European security and defense specialists, which includes civil servants, diplomats, police officers and military personnel from the EU Member States and the EU institutions involved in the CSDP.
