Intensive Romanian language courses, addressed to students and study candidates from Ukraine

The academic community of UVT believes that our European membership and the values of liberal democracy compel us to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine. We are developing a set of university programs for Ukrainian refugees, mainly for students and researchers.

The most recent example in this series is a postdoctoral study program for citizens of Ukraine, opened in April, lasting 24 months, located in the fields of economics, chemistry, cybernetics, mathematics, philology, physics, public finance, geography, political science, education science, sociology, law, history, philosophy, as well as for vocational fields (art, music and performing arts).

Also within the package of measures addressed to refugees from Ukraine, UVT responded to the integration requests from two citizens from the Ukrainian area. Thus, the request for integration as an associate professor was received from Mr. Igor Kononenko, a member of the Department of Strategic Management within the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (The National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" - NTU "KhPI"), and within the program of postdoctoral scholarships offered by UVT to Ukrainian refugees, Ms. Anna Safronova, doctor of art at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, photographer from Kyiv, signed up, she will benefit from the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Camil Mihaescu, for a period of 24 months, in the doctoral field "Visual Arts".

We complete the suite of programs from the package aimed at Ukrainian refugees, announcing the organization of a new program, intensive learning of the Romanian language, which will take place between May 9, 2022 and September 15, 2022 (14 weeks), offered free of charge to interested persons, students and study candidates from Ukraine, in order to continue or start their studies in higher education in Romania, in 2022. The course aims to prepare the participants (Ukrainian citizens refugees in Romania), in an intensive format, for the level of language competence B1.

The Romanian language learning program will be oriented towards the training and development of communication skills in Romanian according to the CECRL regulations (written reception, oral reception, written expression, oral expression), in a format adapted to the structure of the Romanian language preparatory program for citizens foreigners. The courses will be supported by a team of teaching staff with experience in teaching Romanian as a foreign language from the Romanian Language Collective and preparatory year of the Department of Romanian Studies from the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology.

The rector of UVT, university professor Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: The academic community of UVT stands in solidarity with Ukrainian citizens, with refugees, with those who are looking for educational solutions in Romania. We are now also opening a module for Romanian language courses, addressed to Ukrainians who wish to access study programs in Romanian, for which preparation at a good level of reception and expression in Romanian is important. We offer this Romanian language learning program free of charge, as part of the package of actions that UVT has adopted to support Ukrainian refugees in Romania. University solidarity is a universal value, important now to support Ukrainian refugees.
