UVT brand cultural diplomacy, in the program Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture  

The academic community of the Western University of Timișoara is pleased to announce the program of a high-value musical circuit, including concerts that will be performed by the violinist Alexandru Tomescu and the pianist Sînziana Mircea in November, a series of UVT brand cultural diplomacy events held in the year of the European Capital of Culture – Timișoara 2023. It is about four international concerts offered to the public in London, Madrid, Vienna and Budapest.

The program of the series of events includes the concerts that will take place in London (November 9, ICR London), Madrid (November 14, Real Casino de Madrid), Vienna (November 27, ICR Vienna) and Budapest (November 28, ICR Budapest).

The "Remember Enescu" concerts represent the second part of the "Remember Enescu" International Competition project, held in Timișoara in September 2023, and they come to encourage education through music, but also to promote the musical creations of the great composer George Enescu in a European context. At the same time, the aim of this endeavor is to actively contribute to the creation of a universal positive perception of Romanian culture and heritage, of values, especially in the context of the Timișoara – European Capital of Culture program in 2023.

In addition to the series of four concerts, two exhibitions will also be organized in November, the first including works by students and PhD students from the Faculty of Arts and Design from UVT (in Rome, starting from November 14), the second grouping photographs dedicated to Timișoara ( at the University of Cadiz, on November 23, on the occasion of Romania's National Day).

The rector of UVT, university professor Dr. Marilen Pirtea: "Cultural diplomacy carried out internationally is a special component of the contribution made by the University of West in Timișoara within the program dedicated to the European cultural year 2023. The concerts offered by maestro Alexandru Tomescu, together with the valuable pianist Sînziana Mircea, but also the exhibitions that will be opened at the Accademia di Romania in Rome and at the University of Cadiz, confirm the role of the UVT academic community in the international support and promotion of European values ​​in Romanian culture."

Between November 14 and December 4, 2023, the Accademia di Romania in Rome, in partnership with the Western University of Timișoara, through the Faculty of Arts and Design, under the patronage of the Embassy of Romania in the Italian Republic, organizes the Contemporary Art Exhibition "Emergencies". In the year in which the city of Timișoara holds the title of European Capital of Culture, the collective exhibition of contemporary art "Emergence", hosting the works of young artists and doctoral students of the Faculty of Arts and Design at the University of West Timișoara, takes us into a fascinating universe , revealing relevant trends in contemporary art.

The works of the young creators offer a nutty perspective on how current artistic research crystallizes in works extremely varied in terms of mediums, techniques and working methods. 14 doctoral students of the Faculty of Arts and Design will participate with works, in the year in which the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Doctoral School of Arts is being celebrated: Raluca Anghel (painting), Ovidiu Batista (engraving), Mirela Cerbu (painting, object), Sânziana Gheorghe (painting), Uliana Gujuman (painting), Ciprian Hord (photo), Emanuela Andreea Hrițcu (sculpture), Bogdan Matei (graphics), Andrei Răzvan Neciu (graphics, object), Andrei Pituț (sculpture), Alexandra Satmari (sculpture ), Mihai Toth (object), Mădălina Trofin (object) and Bianca Tulea (graphics - illustration).

On November 23, on the occasion of Romania's National Day, the University of Cadiz will organize an event dedicated to Romania "Jornada Rumania - patrimonio y cultura europea". The event includes a conference (online and with physical presence) about bilateral relations, and on the same occasion, the photo exhibition dedicated to Timișoara is exhibited at the premises of the National University for Distance Education, with a format similar to that of the exhibition at ICR Madrid. The event is organized within the partnership between UVT and ICR Madrid, together with the Romanian Embassy in Madrid.
