Thursday, May 19, 2022, starting at 9.30:01 a.m., in the AXNUMX amphitheater of the Western University of Timișoara, there will be the ceremony of awarding the title of Doctor Honoris Causa Beneficiorum Publicorum to His Excellency, Mr. David Saranga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel in Romania, becoming an honorary member of our academic community.
Mr. David Saranga holds an MBA degree from the Hebrew University Business School and is fluent in four languages, Hebrew, English, Romanian and Spanish. He has had an appreciable diplomatic and political career, which began with his first diplomatic activity, carried out at the Embassy of Israel in Romania, between 1997 and 2000. After that, Mr. David Saranga was a counselor at the Embassy of Israel in the USA, responsible for relations with media and public affairs in New York, responsible for Israel's image in the United States. He was also Head of the Liaison Department with the European Parliament, within the Israeli delegation to the EU, between 2011 and 2014, as well as Senior Advisor for Foreign Affairs to the President of the State of Israel, Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin, between 2014 and 2018.
Through the conferred title, UVT recognizes and appreciates the special contributions of Mr. David Saranga in the world of diplomacy, for the promotion of cultural and educational relations between Romania and Israel, but also for the consolidation of cooperation between the Romanian university environment and academic institutions in Israel. Mr. Ambassador permanently encouraged the development of the Romanian-Israeli partnership within the West University of Timișoara, especially through the support granted for the opening of the Center for Jewish and Israeli Studies in Timișoara, at UVT, last year. Mr. Ambassador David Saranga is a chosen friend of the academic community of UVT, but also of the Timișoara community, as well as a guest of honor close to and involved in the life of the Jewish Community of Timișoara.
