The final of the Romanian Football Cup, the Timiș county phase, took place on Saturday, July 10, at the Dan Păltinișanu stadium in Timișoara, being contested between CSU Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara and CS Comloșu Mare. The decisive game was won by the university team of the UVT club with 1-0 (1-0), which had guest status. The goal was scored by Florin Olariu in the 26th minute, from a shot from 11 meters. In the second half, the students could break away, missing four clear chances, in addition to a shot on the bar. Ionuț Vucea was declared the player of the final.

The result was obtained thanks to the daily trainings carried out by the team from Timișoara, which tipped the scales in front of the experience of the players of the team from Komloșoara.

In this match, all those who were on the field at CSU UVT are students, eight of the starters at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

UVT's football sports project is crowned at the university level with a new trophy, in just four years: UVT was university champion in 2017 and 2019, vice-champion in 2018, but also marked participation in the European University Championship in 2017 and 2019. CSU UVT was promoted from the 2018th league to the 2020th league at the first participation, in 2020, and the following year it went up to the XNUMXth league. The pandemic stopped the good progress of the team in XNUMX, when it was ranked third at the end of the fourth league round, with a real chance of reaching the barrier for promotion to the third league. The transformation of the CFR base into a COVID hospital affected the training possibilities of the team, which lost the final of the XNUMX Romanian Cup, the county phase, to the Pobeda Dudeștii Vechi team.
