The Faculty of Law team, qualified in the final round of the "European Human Rights Moot Court Competition - Helga Pedersen"

The Law Faculty team from the Western University of Timișoara participated in the regional international rounds of the European Human Rights Moot Court Competition - Helga Pedersen, a prestigious student human rights competition, in its tenth edition, organized by ELSA International, in cooperation with Council of Europe, European Court of Human Rights and European Human Rights Association.

In the final stage of the competition, 18 teams qualified, including that of the Faculty of Law from Timișoara. Access to this stage was based on the written memoranda prepared by the participants and the results obtained by them in the simulated processes in the regional rounds.

The Timișoara Faculty of Law team is composed of Anda Brîndușoni, Iulia Gheju, Ioana Silaș and Georgiana Vlonga (XNUMXrd year students). The preparation of the team of the Faculty of Law from Timișoara is coordinated by Mrs. prof. univ. dr. Raluca Bercea and Miss drd. Diana Fofiu, former participant in international pleading competitions.

The final round will take place in Strasbourg, at the headquarters of the European Court of Human Rights, between 9-13 May 2022. The competition consists of a simulation of proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights, in which the participating teams present the arguments of the parties in a case concerning potential violations of the right to life, the prohibition of inhuman or degrading treatment, the right to private life and the right to property, in the context of climate change.
