The next day, also in the Aula Magna of UVT, the academic community of the West University of Timișoara organized a special ceremony, dedicated to awarding the title of Doctor Honoris Causa UVT to the renowned American economist.

Eric Maskin, Doctor Honoris Causa UVT: "I am happy and honored by the thoughts and appreciations addressed to me by the UVT community. I believe that your interest in knowledge, science and innovation is the best predictor of the future top results you will achieve in a competitive European higher education context."

UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The first essential lesson that economists learn is that resources are limited. It is a universally valid principle of economic analysis, but which, for many actors of public life, is considered negligible, with consequences that can be seen in economic crises.
