The first edition of the international Sci-Fi & Fantasy film festival, "The Galactic Imaginarium", organized by Mr. Darius Hupov, representative of the APEC Association, ended on Sunday, 27.09.2020 at 21:00, with the Awards Gala, presented by Mrs. Irina Margareta Nistor, president of the TGIFF jury and Mr. lecturer Dr. Sorin Ciutacu.
The Western University of Timișoara, through the UVT-TV studio, was the media partner of the TGIFF festival, ensuring the live broadcast of the Awards Gala and the simultaneous online broadcast, maintaining the dialogue between the presenters of the gala, the TGIFF guest of honor, the actor Miltos Yerolemou and the guests specials, members of the production team of the selected films.
The winners of the TGIFF trophies, 2020 edition are:
- "Sci-Fi" category - Help 3 (France, director Janek Tarkowski)
- Fantasy Category - The Bagpipe Maker's Baby (Great Britain, director Chris Hopkin)
- Category "Animation" - 2 Aliens - Safe Space (Germany, director Thomas Zeug)
- Category "Director of the Future" - Isaac's Dream (Great Britain, director Anna Ostrovskaia)
- Special Prize of the president of the jury, Mrs. Irina Margareta Nistor – The Girl (Canada, director Keegan Connor Tracy)
- Audience Award, "Sci-Fi" Category - Help 3 (France, director Janek Tarkowski)
- Audience Award, Fantasy Category – Le Passage (France, directors Clément Labarre, Pierre Labarre)
- Audience Award, Category "Animation" – 2 Aliens- Safe Space (Germany, director Thomas Zeug)
- Audience Award, Category "Director of the Future" – Unauthorized (Canada, director Kara Tsenov)
The team of 24 students from the Western University of Timișoara ensured that the festival was held in drive-in mode and online under the coordination of Mr. Darius Hupov and the TGIFF organizing team, and the lecturer Dr. Eliza Claudia Filimon coordinated the activities translation and subtitling and moderated online discussion sessions with the films' production teams.
