"Flute Fantasia" – extraordinary flute concerto

Matei Ioachimescu, flutist of international stature, associate teacher of the Faculty of Music and Theater at the University of West Timisoara, will present to the public an extraordinary recital, "Flute Fantasia", together with pianist Roxana Ardeleanu and flutist Dumitru Palagniuc. The event will take place on July 5, at 19:00, at the "Mihai Perian" Concert Hall of the "Ion Vidu" Art High School in Timişoara.

The famous flautist Matei Ioachimescu will be present in Timişoara on the occasion of the Flute Interpretive Mastery Course that he will hold, between July 3 and 11, with the support of the Faculty of Music and Theater of the Western University of Timişoara and the Rotary Opera Club of Timisoara.

At the end of the course, the 13 participants will present themselves in a recital, on July 11, from 17:00 p.m., at the "Orpheum" Hall of the Faculty of Music and Theater in Timisoara (Libertăţii Square no. 1).

The program of the extraordinary "Flute Fantasia" Recital will include:

Demersseman – Fantasy "Wilhelm Tell", for two flutes and piano

WA Mozart – "The Magic Flute", for two flutes

Franz Liszt Années de Pèlerinage Deuxième Année: Italie, 5. Sonetto 104 del Petrarca

Borne - Fantasia "Carmen", for flute and piano

Clarke - "Maya", for two flutes and piano

Luigi Hugues – "La Gioconda di Pochielli", for flute and piano

Doppler – Fantasia "Rigoletto", for two flutes and piano

Matei Ioachimescu, renowned Romanian flautist, maintains an impressive concert activity, is recognized for the interpretations of the baroque and modern repertoire, but also for cross-over recitals. He is a graduate of the University of Music in Vienna, the city where he settled and collaborates with some of the most interesting musicians in Europe, on European and Japanese stages such as Konzerthaus Wien, Romanian Athenaeum, Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, Budapest Music Center or Suntory Hall. The debut album together with pianist Cătălina Butcaru, entitled "Lumiere", is considered by specialized critics to be a reference product for these two instruments. As a soloist, he presents both classical concerts and first auditions of contemporary composers, together with philharmonic orchestras from the country and abroad. He is known for the national and European tours: Legends, Romanian Rhapsody, Paris, Playlist and La Vida Loca (the project with international success on the stages of Romania, Austria, Poland and Estonia, which brought, in March 2019, the album of the same name, released at ViennArt record label).

For his intense activity and the high quality of the supported projects, he was awarded the title of "Ambassador of Integration" in 2013 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria. He is invited as a member of the jury in international competitions and holds workshops in Austria, Japan, Hungary, Romania and Croatia.

Since 2020, Matei Ioachimescu is an associate professor at the Faculty of Music and Theater of the Western University of Timisoara.
