Together with the long-term strategic partner, Nokia Romania, UVT succeeded in designing and equipping a space for research, testing and technological innovation, called the Nokia Informatics Laboratory, where the new generations of students and researchers have access to an innovative technical platform, located to the world standards of the field. The inauguration of this new science and research space took place on the first day of the 2021-2022 academic year at UVT. In the new Nokia Informatics Laboratory at UVT, a network of 15 state-of-the-art all-in-one compact systems has been installed in the first stage, which will be used by students and researchers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, following that in the next stage, these systems will be connected to various Nokia equipment and platforms, for the partnership implementation of future research-development-innovation projects.
The event was attended by prof. Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, Rector of the Western University of Timișoara, Mr. Sabin Totorean, Country Senior Officer Nokia Romania, Prof. Univ. Dr. Daniela Zaharie, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of UVT, but also Mrs. Elena Ciocan, Mobile Networks BTS OAM VP Nokia.
About the Nokia Informatics Laboratory from UVT, Nokia Romania representatives convey: "In the current epidemiological context, Nokia has maintained its support for academia by supporting online education by adapting curriculum content and teaching methods, without giving up any of the activities with and for students. The inauguration of this laboratory represents yet another proof of involvement in improving the next generations by supporting education. This approach is as natural as possible considering the strategic partnership that Nokia has with the Western University of Timișoara. We are pleased to support the University by equipping this study space to modern standards. In addition to this, Nokia continues to be with students, through the courses made available to them, facilitating access to the research and innovation hub that is Nokia Romania Garage, through internship programs and through mentoring within the diploma works, practice of summer or collective projects.
