During the last weekend, the athletes of the Karate section of CSU UVT participated in the international competition WKA World Championships, which took place in the city of Szczecin in Poland.

The university team was made up of Hrițcu Bogdan, Burz Denisa, Popescu Ioana, Stanciu Mihai and Bucșă Ana Maria.

Following the results that athletes Hrițcu Bogdan, Burz Denisa and Popescu Ioana had at last year's edition of the competition, they were selected to participate in the UKF Professional Karate Gala, a special event of the competition.

Ioana Popescu and Bogdan Hrițcu defeated opponents from Poland, Belgium and Wales, winning the event: Ioana Popescu in the kata event and Bogdan Hrițcu in the kumite event.

The following day, all our athletes climbed the podium, achieving the following results:

• Stanciu Mihai – 1st place (category ind. veterans)
• Bucșă Ana Maria – 1st place (ind. veterans kata), 1st place (team kata)
• Burz Denisa – 1st place (team category)
• Popescu Ioana – 1st place (team kata), 1st place (senior kata), 1st place (senior kumite)
• Hrițcu Bogdan – 2nd place (kata ind. seniors), 3rd place (kumite ind seniors).
