Festive moment at UVT: the inauguration of the rehabilitated headquarters of the CBG

The academic community of the Western University of Timișoara supports the principle that education and research represent the energy necessary for the future development of our community, so the development of the university infrastructure also becomes vital, for a rapid expansion of functionalities, providing a modern and useful framework for academic life.

In this context, on Thursday, October 19, the inauguration event of the space on Pestalozzi street no. 16, where the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology, Geography of UVT operates, a space that was rehabilitated within the project: "Rehabilitation of the roof and facades of the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology and Geography", carried out by the West University of Timișoara together with ADR West.

The event was attended by the rector of UVT, prof. Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, ADR West representative, Nicolae Munteanu, General Director of UVT, Laurențiu Georgescu, vice-rector Conf. Univ. Dr. Cătălina Ancuța, vice-rector Prof. Univ. Dr. Flavia Barna, Prof. Univ. Dr. Habil. Nicoleta Ianovici, dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology and Geography, Prof. Univ. Dr. Anton Trăilescu, President of the UVT Senate, Prof. Univ. Dr. Nicoleta-Claudia Moldovan, Vice-President of the UVT Senate, as well as other partner institutions, students, teaching staff and guests.

With a total value of 6.748.978,11 lei, of which 6.342.351,66 lei is the amount of non-refundable financing and 406.626,45 lei the contribution of the university, the rehabilitation project concerned the building located in the central area of ​​the city, on Pestalozzi street, no. 16, a heritage building built by Josef Kremer senior in 1901, according to the project of the architect Ernest Gotthilf from Vienna, originally used as an orphanage: the "Gisella" Orphanage in the Fabric district. The building is currently the headquarters of the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology and Geography of the West University of Timișoara, classified as a historical monument.
