Pascal Bruckner: guest of honor at the opening of the academic year, at UVT

The opening of the academic year at the Western University of Timișoara represents, every year, a special moment for the academic community. This autumn, at the beginning of the academic year, we have the privilege of having with us the well-known novelist Pascal Bruckner, a name of reference in the world of French literature and essentials.

Visiting Professor of the University of California Saint Diego, teaching staff at the Institute of Political Studies from Paris, contributor to the daily "Le Nouvel Observateur” and of the newspaper Le Monde, Pascal Bruckner is known for his insightful analyzes of politics, society and culture. Key figure of the Parisian intelligentsia, this contemporary philosopher (wrote the essays "The mess of prosperity", "Perpetual euphoria", "The new love disorder”) is famous in Romania especially through his novels: "Love of neighbor", "Beauty thieves", "Months of bile", "Anonymous ogres", "The palace of chelfanelii", "The Divine Child", "The Fanatics of the Apocalypse" and "Pariah".

On Friday, September 29, from 09:30, the UVT community will have the honor of welcoming the beloved writer to its ranks, in a ceremony to award the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, which will take place in the A01 Amphitheater. On the same day, from 18:00, he will share his fascinating thoughts and perspectives in a conference entitled "Europe loves fairy tales too much", a dialogue that promises to provoke reflection and inspire us, hosted by the "Mihai Eminescu" National Theater from Timișoara.
