During June 20-24, Lect. Univ. Dr. Silvia Fierăscu from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Philosophy and Communication Sciences, participated as an invited instructor at the largest school of social research methods in the world, at 1st Summer School in Social Science Research Methods (SSSRM 2022).
The event, organized in a global premiere, by Methods Excellence Network, in partnership with Nijmegen School of Management and Radboud University from the Netherlands, brought together over 400 participants and offered over 20 interdisciplinary courses in social research methods, from fundamental research to applied research in political science, international relations, communication sciences, sociology, but also other academic and professional fields .
Dr. Fierăscu taught the course "Applied Social Network Analysis", to an interdisciplinary group of PhD students, young researchers and practitioners from six countries, from universities such as World Maritime University, Sweden, National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, Holland, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, or Leiden University, Holland. Dr. Fierăscu was assisted by Rafiazka Hilman, PhD student at Central European University, Austria, in Network and Data Science, with whom she has been teaching this course for more than 3 years.
"I felt wonderful to represent PFC, UVT and Romania at this event. It was a first for us and I hope to continue to be represented in the years to come. We also used this opportunity to initiate collaborations and institutional partnerships that would make access to this event easier and at the lowest possible cost for Romanian students, PhD students and creators. The Network Science course is one of the most sought after at such events. What is new in the context of this summer school is that we can expose researchers and practitioners from complementary social science fields, thus succeeding in empowering their portfolio of complex knowledge, skills and abilities in a unique way, highly appreciated by the participants ," declared Dr. Silvia Fierăscu, invited instructor at SSSRM 2022.
