First in the digitized university space in Romania: UVT adopts the European Student Card (ESC)

As a university, we understand our role not only as users of technology, but also as creators of technology, constantly coming up with innovations and innovative approaches in the area of education, research, but also in the area of complex administrative processes.

Simple and secure online administrative procedures and making information available to students are essential to increase student mobility across Europe. The digital tool is also essential to promote student participation in educational and cultural activities, in line with the vision of creating a European education space by 2025.

It is not the first and certainly not the last time that UVT joins a valuable initiative of the European Commission, aimed at facilitating academic processes - including study mobility, managed in a more efficient, digital way, using modern technologies: European Student Card (ESC ).

However, it is not a simple data connection, but an entire automated flow, 100% digital, created by UVT for the first time, at least for Romania. Beyond logging into the European resource that manages the European Student Card (ESC), UVT has also created an automated application that generates, in the same context, the student ID.

The "European Student Card" allows every student to identify and register electronically, easily and securely, at higher education institutions in Europe, eliminating the need to complete procedures and paper work.

The created tool will allow us to develop in an integrated way ID cards, note books and other elements required by national and European legislation, avoiding standing in queues, printing tens of thousands of documents and the administrative load of rigor, in a few clicks distance.

Other services to be adopted will be related to the recognition of students' status and identity in various contexts, access to controlled spaces (e.g. library), payment services, the organization of educational mobility (e.g. Erasmus), as well as facilities related to transportation in common, student partnerships, access to performances, etc.

Effective management of complex data, data security and accessibility is an active concern that we feel is increasingly necessary in our daily work. We continue to develop innovative tools that facilitate a high-performance educational and administrative experience, using modern technologies, or developing them in the UVT community.
