Modernization and energy efficiency project of three UVT dormitories, qualified for financing through PNRR

The Western University of Timișoara received with satisfaction the recent announcement about the positive result obtained during the evaluation stage of a new university infrastructure project, promoted through the application submitted for funding through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The project was submitted under the title "Modernization and energy efficiency of the student dormitories of the Western University of Timișoara: C3, C15 and C17” and aims to modernize the three student dormitories of UVT, in order to ensure a quality infrastructure for the participation of students in a modern and inclusive educational process. The first general objective of the modernization and energy efficiency project is to modernize the existing infrastructure, accommodation, by reducing energy consumption for heating by at least 50% and increasing primary energy savings by 30% in the three dormitories, contributing to the increase in quality the lives of future generations. The second objective, also general, refers to the creation of modern spaces and high-performance learning environments in the UVT dormitories, in order to combat the limited access to education of students, especially those from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, and the third objective, this time formulated in very concrete terms, refers to the modernization of 1200 accommodation places in these dormitories, of which 480 accommodation places (40%) for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, in the three student dormitories, to ensure the social and inclusive dimension of higher education.

The value of the investment is 26.326.900,85 lei, of which 23.623.880,00 lei non-refundable financing and 2.703.020,85 lei the contribution of UVT.

The works that will be carried out involve moderate energy renovation, with several technical solutions, namely the general energy rehabilitation of the thermal envelope of the buildings through the thermal insulation of the external walls and the restoration of the finishes, the thermal insulation of the floor above the last level and the floor above the basement (the opaque part of the envelope thermal), but also the change of the external PVC carpentry (regardless of the state of wear) with carpentry with AL frame with thermal break, with triple thermal insulating glass glazing, modernization of the facilities by replacing the distribution pipes for heating agent and hot water of consumption, the modernization of the lighting system, replacing the existing fixtures with fixtures equipped with LED type sources, the replacement of static fixtures and sanitary objects (with reduced water consumption) and, last but not least, the introduction of energy production equipment from renewable sources (photovoltaic ).
