On Thursday, May 26, from 11:00 a.m., in the A01 Amphitheater, UVT brings a well-deserved recognition to an important name in the field of American literary and cultural studies, in the person of Mr. Werner Sollors, a professor with an outstanding professional career, who will be given the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa Litterarum Humaniorum.
Mister. Werner Sollors has taught at some of the world's most important universities: Columbia and Harvard. The beginnings of his activity are under the sign of the exceptional education he benefited from in Berlin, where he also completed his doctoral studies, Summa Cum Laude. Beneficiary of numerous scholarships and grants, Professor Sollors knew how to return to the younger generations what he had accumulated intellectually, becoming a professor dedicated to his students and PhD students, but also an extraordinary colleague, who never hesitated to support his collaborators in their endeavors Research.
The list of his publications is impressive, recognition through their citation is undeniable. The awards and distinctions acquired over the years confirm its membership in elite international research. All his activity is proof of his affinity for interdisciplinarity and openness to society, to the community in which the researcher cannot and does not want to isolate himself from the environment in which he works.
Professor Sollors has been extremely generous in his support of the Western University of Timișoara, for the development of the American Studies program, and is an ideal partner for the strategic expansion of UVT's relations with prestigious institutions in North America.
The granting, by the Western University of Timişoara, of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa Litterarum Humaniorum, to Mr. Werner Sollors, represents an act of recognition of the value and moral landmark offered by His Majesty, as well as a moment of assumption by our university of the responsibility the cultivation of a necessary (self)reflexive culture, which does not shy away from the dilemmas of the present.
