Between June 15-17, 2023, the international final of the Telders Moot Court Competition, a prestigious student scientific competition in public international law organized by the Grotius Center for International Legal Studies and the University of Leiden (Netherlands), was held in The Hague.
In the international stage, 25 teams from law faculties from prestigious universities in Europe participated, including the team from the Faculty of Law from the Western University of Timișoara. The Timișoara Faculty of Law team, made up of Horea Ardelean, Melisa Cheșpi, Dara Nestorovici and Anamaria Petcu (second year students), took first place in the ranking of oral pleadings for the respondent and fifth place in the general ranking for the respondent.
The competition consisted of a simulation of the proceedings before the International Court of Justice, in which the participating teams presented the arguments of the parties in a case concerning the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice and international arbitral tribunals, as well as aspects of international environmental law and the violation obligations arising from international treaties.
The team of the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timișoara was prepared by Mrs. Vice Dean Lect. university Dr. Sorina Doroga, Miss Dr. Alexandra Burdulea and Miss drd. Andra Cenan-Glăvan, former participant in international pleading competitions.
