An expression of the artistic strength of the Faculty of Music and Theatre, with the involvement of over 150 students, the show "Romania: Revolution 1989" had its absolute premiere on the stage of the National Opera in Timișoara, on December 15, 2019, being the only creation and staging about the Revolution since 1989.
In order to keep alive the memory of the Citadel, to keep the free spirit of Timisoara alive forever, but also not to allow the younger generations to forget their heroes, the Faculty of Music and Theater of UVT proposes to resume this show every year, on the 15 December, remembering those transfigured days of blood and fighting, from the Balcony of the Opera House, when he descended directly into History!
The show "Romania: Revolution 1989" could be watched on Tuesday, 15.12.2020, from 19:00, on the local television channel TVR Timișoara.
This year, with the exception of the American tenor William Scott, who played Nicolae Ceaușescu, the soloists were the teachers and students of the Faculty of Music and Theatre, the role of Elena Ceaușescu being played by the lect. university dr. Ioana-Mia Iuga, currently the vice-dean of the faculty, and that of the Mother, by lect. university Dr. Simona-Daniela Negru.
"Romania: The 1989 Revolution" is an opera in two acts, to the music and libretto of Aron Garber.
