The Western University of Timișoara, through the Department of Geography, together with the Embassy and the City Hall of Timișoara hosted, for a week, a summer school focused on innovation and urban regeneration, which was attended by over 50 international participants.
The event is part of the three-year project EUREKA – European Urban Regenerators Knowledge Alliance, supported by the European Commission and attended by representatives from the University of Venice (IUAV), Deusto University of Bilbao, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, MeltingPRO (Rome), LAMA (Florence), Trans Europe Halles (Lund), Pakhuis de Zwijger (Amsterdam), the Embassy, the West University of Timișoara (UVT) and the City Hall of Timișoara.
The project aims to form an international network of specialists in the field of innovation and urban regeneration. After an applied research stage, 50 international students were co-opted into the project, who, for one year, attend courses and look for regeneration solutions for neighborhoods in Timișoara, Venice, Amsterdam and Bilbao, in the form of living-labs.
In Timișoara, the point of interest is the Dâmbovița-Flavia area, where the students carried out quantitative and qualitative field research and interventions/temporary installations. The next meeting will take place in Bilbao in October.
