The development of the educational process under normal conditions is the unanimous wish during this period. So that the return to the premises of the university is carried out under the sign of complete safety for students, the academic community of UVT consulted to debate and adopt the best decisions regarding the format of conducting courses in the second semester.
Based on the principle of university autonomy, exercised through the consultation of teaching staff and UVT students, taking into account the current context of the epidemiological situation, the way of carrying out activities in the second semester at the University of West in Timișoara was established by the Decision of the University Senate dated February 4, 2021.
Thus, the following formats of the didactic activities were decided:
– All didactic activities related to the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021 will be conducted online at all component faculties of UVT, with the exception of the Faculties of Arts and Design, Physical Education and Sports and Music and Theater, where the didactic activities will be conducted in the format hybrid, the face-to-face activities to be carried out in a format and according to a program established at the level of these faculties, subject to compliance with the legal norms in force;
– The activities related to the elaboration of the works for the completion of university bachelor's and master's studies, as well as the specialized practice activities, where appropriate, can take place in the premises of the UVT, in compliance with the legal norms in force;
– The activities related to the conduct and completion of doctoral studies as well as those related to the defense of habilitation theses can take place in the premises of UVT, in compliance with the legal norms in force;
– The regulations in force at this moment, approved by the Board of Directors and approved by the UVT Senate, and which concern the organization of the didactic process (Methodology regarding the organization of the educational process in a hybrid regime or exclusively online at the West University of Timișoara in the first semester of the academic year 2020-2021), including the method of reporting related activities, remain valid.
The rector of UVT, university professor Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, emphasizes the specifics of the university activities in the second semester: "The UVT Senate considered the proposals advanced by the faculty councils, with all the specificities of the teaching activities in each faculty. The proposal to resume face-to-face activities selectively and in compliance with the legal norms in force came only for the few particular situations, from three faculties with a vocational profile, those of Arts and Design, Physical Education and Sport and that of Music and Theatre, but also for the elaboration and completion of bachelor's and dissertation works, as well as for doctoral and habilitation studies. UVT is among the most advanced universities in the country, as an index of employee favorability towards the vaccination process, with over 70% of employees being favorable to vaccination, over 700 employees being scheduled for the administration of the SARS-Cov-2 vaccine. We only need a few more months to overcome the difficulties of the pandemic, and this context was decisive for the continuation of the online educational format, in the case of most study programs, in the second semester of this academic year".
