One of the brand events organized by the Western University of Timișoara was the UVT Open Robotics Intelligent Grid Robotics Camp.
The 5th edition of UVT Open Robotics Intelligent Grid Robotics Camp took place during 6-10 September, having as a theme "The future city of tomorrow". The event was carried out by UVT, together with the CSH robotics team from the National Pedagogical College "Carmen Sylva" Timișoara.
The Rector of UVT, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The robotics competitions are an open invitation, addressed mainly to young high school students, to test their creativity and inventiveness in building new, functional and fully versatile robots. We are aware that the Open Robotics Intelligent Grid Camp project has evolved and developed organically, thanks to the special passion that the participants have for the world of robotics."
During the event, 150 students, members of high school robotics teams from the whole country, were actively involved in the preparation of workshops and team competitions, together with volunteers. For 48 hours, these talented young people put their imagination and skill into building robots that fit the specified theme.
During the 48 hours, the teams worked in the process of building robots and participated in workshops offered by local companies in Timișoara. These sessions covered topics related to innovation and technology.
On September 9, starting with at 10:00, the competition took place at Iulius Mall. Each team played 6 matches, having the opportunity to demonstrate the skills of the robots they created during the camp.
The award ceremony was held at the Western University of Timișoara, on September 9, starting with at 19:30. In the same evening, the theme for the FIRST Tech Challenge international robotics competition was also announced, a competition that represents a moment awaited by all the teams present, which achieve notable results every year, both nationally and internationally.
