"Timisoara. The Secret Map: People and Places"

The Western University of Timișoara invites you on January 25 and 26 at Cinema Victoria to enjoy four documentaries in which the past and the present intertwine to offer a special experience of exploring our city.

The screenings will start at 18:00, according to the following schedule:

January 25 - "Three UFOs in Timisoara and a story about water". A spectacular foray into the history of the water plant in Timisoara, with sequences totally unknown to the public. Duration: 25 minutes

  – "Legend of House H". The film reconstructs the story of the design and construction of a unique house in Timișoara, but also in Romania, multi-prized nationally and internationally, work of the architect Radu Mihăilescu. At the same time, the film retraces the path of some biographies that the building of the house totally changes for the better, from the client, to the workers and the architect. Duration: 26 minutes
Dialogue with: Adriana Babeți and Robert Şerban

January 26 - "Caffeine on Bega". The episode brings to the attention of the public some moments from the history of cafes in Timişoara, marking three premieres on the current territory of Romania. Among them, the operation of the first Turkish cafe (1560). Duration: 25 minutes

"New Times. A small revolution". This new episode pays tribute to the personality of Francesco Illy from Timisoara, the inventor of the modern espresso machine. Duration: 25 minutes

"Timisoara. The secret map: people and places" is a project in which Adriana Babeti, together with a wonderful team, explores the forgotten, unknown, but impressive histories of Timisoara and brings to the public's attention some of the special people of the place.
"Timisoara. The secret map: people and places" is a joint project of the House of Culture of the Municipality of Timișoara and the Western University of Timișoara. The project is part of the Cultural Program "Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture", it is financed by the City Hall of the Municipality of Timișoara through the House of Culture of the Municipality of Timișoara and the Project Center.
