The West University of Timișoara, in partnership with the Timișoara Public Transport Company, is launching an ambitious project to encourage reading, called "Timișoara is (re)reading". Starting today, those who board STPT trams, buses, minibuses and trolleybuses will be able to read poems written by contemporary Banat poets.
"Timișoara (re)reads" is also an initiative to promote poets from Timișoara or those related to Timișoara, from Ion Monoran, a symbol for the Revolution of 1989, or Șerban Foarță, whose name is linked to the lyrics of the most appreciated album of the Phoenix band, up to established writers such as Moni Stănilă, Robert Șerban, Tudor Crețu, but also young poets such as Nicoleta Papp or Alex Higyed.
In total, about a thousand posters were installed in over a hundred means of public transport, with the list of lyrics to be updated over time. This is just the first initiative in a series of events aimed at encouraging reading and promoting contemporary writers in novel contexts that have an impact on the community.
"Timișoara (re)reads" is a long-term cultural project, carried out in partnership by UVT and STPT, dedicated to the Timișoara community.
