"Transformations in the bank-client relationship. Evolutions, mutations, predictions"

The Law Faculty of the Western University of Timișoara, through the Center for Business Law Timișoara, organizes on Friday, March 31, 2023, the eleventh edition of the Banking Law Conference in Timișoara, with the theme Transformations in the bank-client relationship. Evolutions, mutations, predictions and is broadcast live on the platform www.juridice.ro.

The conference is part of the prestigious Legal Colloquium cycle of the National Bank of Romania, being organized by the Law Faculty of the West University of Timișoara in collaboration with the National Bank of Romania - Legal Department. Professors from law and economics faculties, as well as renowned specialists who work in the National Bank of Romania, credit institutions and law firms are invited to participate in the conference as speakers.

The conference aims to discuss the current and complex issue of transformations produced in the relationship between banks and their clients, professionals or consumers. This relationship, whose temporal evolution coincides with the history of banking activity, has undergone an accelerated metamorphosis in recent years, marked by disruptive phenomena that have produced real mutations in both corporate and retail relationships. Massifying access to banking services and optimizing financial inclusion, diversifying the areas of financial intermediation and increasing competition in the field, responsible and sustainable financing, integrating fintech tools into the business processes of banks, rethinking the infrastructure used in banking and its interconnection with digital platforms and applications, automation processes and decisions by calling on artificial intelligence are just some of the challenges facing the financial-banking industry today. If the recent exogenous crisis-type events are added to these transformations, which test the resilience of economies in general and financial-banking systems in particular, the picture becomes even more complex. The premise from which the debate starts is that, if developments in banking have constantly sought to reach higher and higher standards of efficiency, from the perspective of security, costs and flexibility, financial banking systems are currently going through a stage of structural mutations, in which is checked including the ability of the right to respond to new challenges.

The conference brings theorists and practitioners of the field face to face in an attempt to make an accurate radiograph and a realistic prognosis. This event is held under the auspices of the European Association of Banking and Financial Law (AEDBF Europe) and is financially supported, along with the organizers, by Banca Comercială Română. The media partner of the conference is juridice.ro.
