The Western University of Timișoara invites you to join a week full of inspiration, within three exceptional events, scheduled for November 21-22. We announce the presence of distinguished guests, Andrei Cornea, Alexandre Gefen and Mircea Dumitru, who will illustrate and enrich the discussions of these special days.

One of the most important and most appreciated specialists in ancient philosophy in Romania, Mr. Andrei Cornea, will hold the conference "Plato's second coming", on Tuesday, November 21, from 18:00, in the A01 Amphitheater. The event will be moderated by Mircea Mihăieș, renowned literary critic, essayist and publicist.

Andrei Cornea is the author of numerous books and articles about Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Epicurus and other ancient thinkers. He is also known for the complete translation into Romanian of Plato's "Politeia" dialogue. Andrei Cornea is a professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest and a permanent collaborator of Magazine 22. The event is part of the cultural program "At UVT, Culture is Capital!", included in the Cultural Program "Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture", the territory Oameni, Reflectiņi station, financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, co-financed by the Timiș County Council, through the TimCultura 2023 program.

On Wednesday, November 22, the West University of Timișoara invites you to an exciting event, Timișoara Ideas Fest - "Littérature et justice" (Literature and justice). We are honored to have as our special guest Alexandre Gefen, French literary critic and academic researcher. The conference will take place from 18:00 in the A01 Amphitheater of the university.

Alexandre Gefen is director of studies at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Department of Theory and History of Modern Arts and Literatures, professor at Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, historian of ideas and literature. Author, among others, of the volumes Territoires de la non-fiction, Brill, 2020; Bestsellers. L'industrie du succès, Armand Colin, 2021 (in collaboration with Olivier Bessard-Banquy and Sylvie Ducas); The idea of ​​literature. De l'art pour l'art aux écritures d'intervention, Corti, 2021; La littérature est une affaire politique, L'Observatoire, 2022.

Our host for this special evening will be Vasile Popovici, who will guide the engaging and substantive discussions. The conference will be translated into Romanian, so that all participants can enjoy this experience fully. The event is part of the national cultural program "Timișoara - European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is financed by the program Inside Timișoara 2023, run by the Project Center of the Municipality of Timișoara, with amounts allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture and co-financed by the Timiș County Council, through the TimCultura 2023 program.

Also on Wednesday, November 22, but from 16:00, we invite you to an exceptional philosophical debate: "Fear of the truth and other cultural pathologies"! The event will take place in room A01, and will be moderated by Mr. Conf. Univ. Dr. Mădălin Bunoiu, UVT Vice-Chancellor.

The special guest will be Mr. Mircea Dumitru, one of the most important contemporary Romanian philosophers, professor of logic, member and vice-president of the Romanian Academy. With a vast experience in the field of education and an outstanding contribution to the development of philosophical thinking, he will guide us through a deep analysis of the theme of this event. This event is part of the "Connect to the Future" series, which aims to popularize science.

The event is part of the cultural program "At UVT, Culture is Capital!", included in the Cultural Program "Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture", Oameni territory, Reflectiţi station, financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, co-financed by the Timiș County Council , through the TimCultura 2023 program.
