The Tour Mont Blanc Erasmus+ Student Trail project, organized by the Université Savoie Mont Blanc, ended on Friday, June 11, with a ceremony organized in the town of Chamonix.
Around 50 students from nine universities across Europe, including five UNITA partners, started this sporting adventure on Sunday 6 June. The trajectory was 42.5 km long, with 3080m of positive altitude difference and 2860m of negative altitude difference! Completed over four days, this itinerary exposed the students to an astonishing diversity of landscapes around the valleys of Beaututain and Chamonix.
They also participated in various challenges in teams and learned about environmental conservation, especially in mountain areas. While the red team won the orienteering challenge, the green team won the creative video award given during the ceremony after they made a video about the importance of sports at the university. Together with their prize, they will have the opportunity to go on a trip to Brussels to visit the European Commission this autumn.
The closing ceremony was attended by Juliette Martinez, Chamonix City Official, and Philippe Galez, President of the Université Savoie Mont Blanc, who praised this innovative project. The two tournament ambassadors and professional athletes, Oscar Lombardia and Marie Pollet-Villard, also had the opportunity to share their experience and explain once again the importance of sports in a student's life.
At the end, all the participants asked themselves the same thing: Shall we come together again for another sporting challenge, maybe in another UNITA country?
