The contribution of research to society by universities is the engine of evolution, and academia can make a real difference in the community, providing models by promoting authentic values, by popularizing science and by bringing people closer to scientists and culture.

One of the main directions followed by the Western University of Timișoara is to bring around it the indisputable values ​​of various fields of activity and models for future generations.

Tomorrow, June 9, we honor a special personality, a person who fully understands the dynamism of our world today. Prof. Roman Beck is one of the key figures of Information Systems in Europe, a pioneer in Blockchain technologies. He was one of the first in the world to recognize the importance of the emerging blockchain economy. Together with his team, Professor Beck implemented test nodes for Ethereum before it was officially launched.

His lordship's choice as a recipient of the Doctor Honoris Causa Scientiarum title came naturally and we are proud that he has accepted to become a member of the academic community. Professor Beck has a career that can inspire us. His ties with the Western University of Timișoara date back to 2018, when, at the Romanian Information Systems conference in Iași, he launched the idea that UVT could host the most prestigious Information Systems conference in Europe, ECIS, in Romania.

The honorary title offered to Prof. Roman Beck represents the way in which the Western University of Timișoara publicly recognizes the merits of his entire career and a form of thanking him for the strong example given to the younger generations.
