Moscow International University Ranking "The Three University Missions" (MosIUR) 2021

The Western University of Timisoara is present for the second consecutive year in the Moscow International University Ranking "The Three University Missions" (MosIUR), which evaluates and ranks higher education institutions according to the following three university missions: education, research and interaction with society.

Only eight Romanian universities were included in the 2021 edition of this ranking, UVT occupying the 6th place nationally and placing in the range 1401-1500 worldwide. The ranking includes over 2000 higher education institutions from 119 countries.

The rector of UVT, university professor Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, appreciates: "UVT and the Timisoara university center are connected to European and international academic life, and the "The Three University Missions" ranking confirms this strategic orientation. Moreover, UVT is part of the UNITA European university network, together with five universities from France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, which are, in turn, well placed in the reference academic rankings. The students of the Western University of Timișoara are European students and they prepare here according to the performance standards present in the best European universities."

Four of the member universities of the University Consortium were included in the 2021 edition of this international ranking, the Moscow International University Ranking "The Three University Missions" (MosIUR) being one of the 11 rankings used in the analysis of the national Metaranking - the ranking of Romanian universities.

Round University Subject Rankings 2021

The Western University of Timișoara is present in the RUR Subject Rankings, 2021 edition, in the field Life Sciences (biology, bioinformatics), occupying the 3rd place in the country, according to the results obtained on the components of Research Ranking and Financial Sustainability Ranking, respectively position 4 on the Teaching and International Diversity Ranking components.

The Round University Subject Rankings is based on the information used to generate the general Round University Ranking and measures the performance of universities based on 20 performance indicators grouped into 4 indicator categories: teaching (40%), research (40%), international diversity (10%) and financial sustainability (10%) and 6 fields of study: humanities, life sciences, natural sciences, technical sciences, social sciences and medical sciences.

It is confirmed that UVT's positioning is above average in the following areas: Natural sciences (first place at the national level in the Research Ranking of this field, with the 2nd place at the national level, and at the world level it occupies the position 376 out of 700 universities in this field) and Technical sciences (first place at the national level in the Research Ranking of this field, with the 5th place at the national level, and at the world level UVT occupies the position 671 out of 700 universities in this field).

The rector of UVT, university professor Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The most important components evaluated by the international Round University Subject Rankings are those of teaching and research, on which we have focused simultaneously in recent years, so as to succeed in ranking among the top European university networks. The result that UVT registers in the RUR Subject Rankings 2021 confirms the good results with which our university stands out, in a competitive environment, of scientific excellence and innovation".

The world top Round University Ranking, published since 2013 by the RUR Rankings Agency in Moscow, resulted from the analysis of the information provided by the universities by completing the platform of the Global Institutional Profiles Project (GIPP) study developed by Clarivate Analytics, of the bibliometric / scientometric data extracted from the databases of data Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc. and by interpreting the academic reputation study conducted by the Global Institutional Profiles Project (GIPP).

THE Subject Rankings 2022

The West University of Timisoara is also present this year in Times Higher Education Subject Rankings with the field of Physical Sciences (top 1001+ out of 1227 universities worldwide) being among the six ranked universities in Romania. The subfields related to the field of Physical Sciences are: Physics and Astronomy, Mathematics and Statistics, Chemistry and Geology and Earth Sciences.

This ranking, carried out by the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE) since 2004, focuses on research excellence on a global scale, evaluating universities according to the following five dimensions, recalibrated for each field, the weights of the indicators being adapted to each field separately. For the Physical Sciences field in which UVT is ranked, the 5 dimensions were assigned the following weights: teaching activity (27.5%), research activity (27.5%), research impact as a result of the number of citations (35%), international activity (7,5%) and innovation, knowledge transfer to the socio-economic environment (2,5%).

Four of the member universities of the University Consortium were included in the 2022 edition of this international ranking.

About this international academic ranking, the Rector of UVT, prof. dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, emphasizes: "The most internationally relevant universities in Romania are connected to the European scientific research network. And for the Western University of Timișoara, the research component has become a major factor of international recognition, the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings 2022 confirming this strategic orientation."

Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) 2022

Our Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the year 2022 confirms the fact that the Western University of Timisoara is among the Romanian universities included in the lists prestigious internationals, being ranked in the top 1201+ worldwide, out of a total of 1662 elite universities included in this ranking. UVT is, in this ranking, in the fourth position among the 16 top institutions in the country.

The 18th edition of THE WUR included in the evaluation over 2000 universities in the world. Universities without a teaching component and with less than 1000 relevant Scopus indexed publications between 2016 and 2020 were excluded from the analysis. In addition to scientometric data, such as the number of citations attracted, the ranking also takes into account the responses of over 22 thousand representatives of the international academic community, given in the annual THE survey on the academic reputation of universities.

This ranking, made by the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE) since 2004, it focuses on excellence on a global scale, evaluating universities according to the following 5 dimensions: teaching activity (30%), research activity (30%), the impact of research activities as a result of the number of citations (30%), international perspective (7,5%) and knowledge transfer to the socioeconomic environment (2,5%).
