West University of Timișoara (UVT)by Career Counseling and Guidance Center (CCOC-UVT), in partnership with Association of Romanian Councilors (ACROM), organize the "Future of Career Counseling" conference, which will take place online during the December 9-10, 2021.
The "Future of career counseling" conference will bring together specialists in the field of career counseling, university teaching staff, psychologists, representatives of career counseling and guidance centers in Romanian universities, representatives of the Ministry of Education and the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education Superior (ARACIS), representatives of student organizations, students from the fields of Psychology and Educational Sciences, representatives of the labor market and non-governmental environment, as well as school counselors from pre-university education units.
This event will debate the role of career counseling in students' lives and the future of career counseling and guidance services in line with the demands of today's society, through panel discussions, case studies and online workshops, proposing to collect ideas and examples of good practices to support the development and efficiency of the activities of counseling and career guidance centers in Romanian universities.
The special guest of the conference will be Mr Prof. Dr. Mark L. Savickas from Kent State University (USA), a renowned specialist in career counseling, the author of the paper Career Construction Theory & Life Design, who will give a presentation entitled "Vocational and professional behavior development techniques", on Friday, December 10, 2021, starting at 14:00 p.m.

Prof. Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea emphasized the importance of such an event:We have the great joy of hosting online the first conference with a national impact carried out by the Career Counseling and Guidance Center of the West University of Timișoara, for specialists in the field of career counseling and structures with attributions in this regard in the education system. During the conference, specialists from the country and abroad in the field of career counseling, university teachers, psychologists, representatives of the labor market and the non-governmental environment will gather to debate the role and future of career counseling and guidance services, in according to the demands of today's society. We have various activities planned, such as case studies, where specialists will share examples of good practices and the lessons offered by the novel changes of recent years, a series of discussion sessions with specialists in the field in which we will start from the current situation of career counseling services in universities and we will look for solutions for the future or a series of workshops discussing transdisciplinary approaches in career guidance.
We feel a huge responsibility towards the several hundred educational professionals who decided to be with us during the two days of the conference. It is an enormous joy to observe how our colleagues from CCOC-UVT, together with the representatives, laid the foundations for an event that is intended to become an emblematic one for our university's portfolio. I am sure that the future needs well-trained specialists and I believe that our motto, 'Become your best', will in turn inspire future generations of career counseling experts."
