The West University of Timișoara hosted, within the INNOUNITA program, an ideation workshop on social entrepreneurship, organized by the Social Impact Award (SIA).
The "Social Business Lab" event is part of the 11th edition of Social Impact Award Romania, an international competition that supports young professionals, students and pupils who want to become social entrepreneurs. Young people between 14 and 30 years old who want to bring innovative solutions to current social problems are expected to apply by May 10 through the online platform: https://apply.socialimpactaward.net/romania/.
As part of SIA 2022, participants have access to an international community of social entrepreneurs, prizes totaling 10.000 euros, a 3-month incubation program and mentoring alongside experienced Romanian social entrepreneurs.
After receiving applications by May 10, the jury will select 15 project ideas that will enter a stage of idea development and incubation during the summer. The jury is made up of Diana Certan, Director, Concordia Humanitarian Organization, Anca Luca, Senior Brand Manager, BCR, Alina Kasprovschi, Executive Director, Bucharest Community Foundation, Angela Achiței, President of ADV Romania, Andrei Coșuleanu, Founder, Act for Tomorrow, Zoltan Bereczki , President, Synergy Venture Catalyzer and a SAP Romania representative. The incubation period comes with the necessary resources so that young people can develop their idea further.
Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, rector of UVT: Participation in specific activities, in which member universities of the European alliances are engaged, is a priority for UVT, a member of the UNITA European alliance. We are with the great universities of Europe, in these training and innovative projects, in a space of education and research that brings together the 41 European alliances of universities created at the initiative of the EU, including 10 of the most important Romanian universities.

It aims to increase the quality of innovation and entrepreneurship education through innovation programmes, entrepreneurship training and mentoring schemes for community members. To achieve this mission, UVT and the universities of the UNITA – Universitas Montium consortium engage in actions to strengthen partnerships through an improved network of mutual learning and collaboration, within the IÎS Initiative of the EIT: Strengthening the innovation capacity for higher education.
In Romania, the Social Impact Awards competition reached its 11th edition and is organized by the Social Innovation Solutions team, with the support of BCR Romania and SAP, and together with the international partners Erste Foundation and Vienna University.
The mission of Social Innovation Solutions is to support individuals and organizations to understand the transformations of the future and develop sustainable technology, public policy and entrepreneurial solutions. SIS develops incubators and accelerators in CEE such as: Future Makers, Social Impact Award, Transformator & Switch; global conversations & educational platforms: Future Summit, Future Talks & Sustainable Futures and foresight & sustainability courses.
