Round University Subject Rankings 2022
The Western University of Timișoara is present in the RUR Subject Rankings, 2022 edition, finding itself in all six sections of the ranking – humanities, life sciences, natural sciences, technical sciences, social sciences and medical sciences – in good positions, between Romanian universities.
UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "In the new report published by the international ranking RUR Subject Rankings, considering the results from the education and research process accumulated by UVT in 2022, the performance of the Western University of Timișoara is particularly noteworthy in the area where it is ranked among the top three universities at national level, respectively on the fields of Natural Sciences (first place) and Technical Sciences (second place). These results are important for the evolution on a national, but also international level, for a good visibility of our study programs within the European university space."
Also, taking all indicators into account, UVT occupies the second position in the field of Natural Sciences and the third position in the field of Social Sciences in the new Round University Subject Rankings 2022, at the national level.
The Round University Subject Rankings is based on the information used to generate the general classification Round University Ranking and measures the performance of universities based on 20 performance indicators grouped into 4 indicator categories:
- teaching (40%),
- research (40%),
- international diversity (10%) and
- financial sustainability (10%).
The world top Round University Ranking, published since 2013 by the RUR Rankings Agency in Moscow, resulted from the analysis of the information provided by the universities by completing the platform of the Global Institutional Profiles Project (GIPP) study developed by Clarivate Analytics, of the bibliometric / scientometric data extracted from the databases of data Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc. and by interpreting the academic reputation study conducted by the Global Institutional Profiles Project (GIPP).

UI GreenMetric World University Ranking 2022
The Western University of Timişoara stands out for the development of ecological infrastructure and is ranked in GreenMetric World University Ranking, the only classification in the world that measures the commitment of each participating university to the development of an infrastructure with a significant ecological dimension.
According to the results of the 2022 edition, UVT ranks 835th worldwide and 9th nationally in the GreenMetric World University Ranking. In this edition, GreenMetric included 1050 universities from 85 countries, their number increasing compared to 2021 (when 956 universities were considered).
In shaping the classification, both the information reported by universities and other independent studies and research carried out for GreenMetric were analyzed. The self-evaluation questionnaire of the universities is structured on 6 categories of performance indicators: settlement and infrastructure (15%), energy and climate change (21%), waste management (18%), water use (10%), transport (18% ) and education (18%).

This year we were at the fifth edition of the European Green Week project at UVT, our event being selected by the European Commission as a partner event of the European Green Week, a European program that takes place internationally during May. In addition, we adopt a behavior of supporting ecological policies in our community, and this series also included the launch, in the UVT Urban Garden, of the joint project, initiated by the City Hall of Timișoara, Aquatim and the students of the University of the West, which provides for the reimagining of the Fountain "Cardinal points" as an island of biodiversity. The GreenMetric World University Ranking brings well-deserved recognition to this strategic dimension in the development of UVT."
The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, launched in 2010, is an initiative of Universitas Indonesia, which identified the need for a university classification system regarding the commitment to addressing environmental sustainability issues. The purpose of GreenMetric is to evaluate the efforts of universities in terms of resource management and the sustainable development of the university campus. Such classification activities will ensure greater attention to the sustainable development of the environment, as well as the economic and social issues related to sustainability, and thus the management structures of the universities will be supported more in their efforts to implement eco-friendly policies.
