The Western University of Timisoara is in the top 5.9% of the best universities in the world out of a total of 19.788 universities worldwide, according to the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) 2020-2021.
UVT gained 24 positions from the previous year, ranking 1162 worldwide. At the European level, UVT occupies the 435th position, while at the national level UVT occupies the 4th position, given that only 10 Romanian universities were included in the ranking that includes the best 10% universities in the world.
CWUR measures the performance of universities based on 4 performance indicators: quality of education (25%), professional insertion of graduates (25%), quality of academic staff (10%) and research performance (40%) divided as follows: research results – number of articles (10%), high-quality publications – number of articles appearing in top journals (10%), research influence – number of articles appearing in high-impact journals (10%) and citations – number of articles with a high number of citations (10%).
This university ranking, published since 2012, is unique in that the objective performance indicators evaluate all four key pillars that form the basis of the ranking methodology (quality of education, professional insertion of graduates, quality of academic staff and research performance), without based on opinion polls and information reported by universities. CWUR places equal emphasis on education and research, evaluating 20.000 universities, considered in the global analysis and ranked according to their performance.
