UVT invites the people of Timisoara to vote for the most creative ideas for Reimagining the "Cardinal Points" Fountain as an island of biodiversity

The project Reimagining the "Cardinal Points" Fountain as a biodiversity island is part of the global vision proposed in the European Green Week calendar at UVT and was proposed by Aquatim SA, as the holder of the rights to use the "Cardinal Points" Fountain.

UVT responded to the initial ideas by organizing a systemic approach to the option generation process for the creative project of the "Cardinal Points" Fountain. The central axis of the project consists in the collaboration between teaching staff and students belonging to the three faculties of UVT (FADCBG and FSP), with the participation of the Technology Transfer and Innovation Center of UVT from the ICAM structure. In this way, the students are an active part of a project through which UVT aims to contribute to the increase of well-being in the community, the creative ideas proposed by them for the reimagining of the "Cardinal Points" Fountain being both aesthetic and functional, in line with the New European Bauhaus .

On Thursday, May 2, the opening of the exhibition took place within the joint project, initiated by UVT and Aquatim SA, with the participation of representatives of the Timișoara City Hall: Reimagining the "Cardinal Points" Fountain as an island of biodiversity.

This event was attended by the Rector of UVT, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, the Advisor to the General Director of Aquatim SA, Robert Șerban, the academic staff of UVT who coordinate the student teams involved in the project, together with students, as well as representatives of the local public administration, of the Order of Architects from Romania - Timiș branch, of the Romanian Landscape Association - West territorial branch, as well as representatives of civil society.

The adviser to the general director of Aquatim SA, Robert Șerban, told the organizers: "The partnership between Aquatim and UVT materializes in a welcome way, the "Cardinal Points" Fountain reconfiguration project being an excellent opportunity to propose another way of seeing the world, a way that also addresses the need for green, for ecology. UVT thus shows what is precisely the meaning of a university: to constantly challenge the community,

but also to offer solutions, as is happening through this project that has generated over 10 spectacular projects."

UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "We are happy to announce the opening of the public voting period for the creative ideas proposed by the UVT teams within the project of Reimagining the "Cardinal Points" Fountain as a biodiversity island. UVT is with Aquatim SA, proposing to the Timisoara community some creative alternatives for the modernization of the famous Timisoara central space through biodiversity."

The community's options and the designation of the best creative idea proposed by the students, aiming at the reimagining of the "Cardinal Points" Fountain, will be able to be expressed until October 31, 2022, after which the project with the most options will be brought to the community of architects, designers, landscapers , hydrotechnicians from Timișoara, in order to arrive at a mature and feasible technical solution.
