"UVT for Students" - a program to support talented young people from vulnerable backgrounds

The Western University of Timișoara remains dedicated to promoting inclusive education and supporting talented students, regardless of their background. This initiative illustrates the university's commitment to a fairer society and to developing the next generation of leaders and conscious citizens.

Thus, on Saturday (October 14, 2023) the program "UVT for students”, an initiative in which talented secondary school students, from vulnerable social backgrounds, have the opportunity to participate in educational, cultural and recreational activities, held at the university headquarters. The main purpose of the program is to support students from vulnerable social categories for better educational and social integration.

The inaugural event, which was called "Si eu pot!", was attended by 32 talented students who benefited from the guidance of teachers and student volunteers from the Department of Educational Sciences of the Faculty of Sociology and Psychology UVT. Activities included group games, socializing exercises and developing communication skills.

In the coming weeks, the "UVT for students" program will continue to provide support, with the involvement of five more faculties of the West University of Timișoara: the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, the Faculty of Arts and Design, the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology and Geography, the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports and the Faculty of Sociology and Psychology. Thus, the aim is to develop a diverse range of activities, adapted to the interests and needs of students.

The "UVT for students" program is an integral part of the "UVT - SUPPORT FOR INCLUSIVE EDUCATION" project (CNFIS-FDI-2023-F-0395), financed from the Institutional Development Fund intended for state universities (CNFIS-FDI-2023). The director of the project is university associate. dr. Theofild Lazăr, and the program coordinator is professor Marin Popescu.
