The Western University of Timișoara also enjoyed the interest of a very large number of aspirants to university studies in this admission session, who signed up to continue their academic career in the most important higher education institution in Western Romania.
Despite the fact that the number of graduates of the baccalaureate exam decreased in 2021 by almost 8% compared to the previous year, the number of students enrolled at UVT after the July 2021 admission session is similar to that of 2020.
But, because at the Western University of Timișoara the focus is mainly on the quality of students, not on their number, our goal has always been to attract the best young people to become UVT students.
Despite the pandemic context, 4 of the 11 faculties of UVT organized admission tests, either conducted online (vocational tests - Faculty of Arts and Design and Faculty of Music and Theater), or written tests, conducted in physical format, with compliance with the rules in force, at the UVT headquarters or the component faculties (Faculty of Law and Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics). At these admission tests, held physically, candidates appeared in a very large number - more than 700 candidates were present who took the tests from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, respectively more than 450 candidates from the Faculty of Law.
Also, the attractiveness of UVT is maintained at the best rates among the talents and award-winning students. Nine graduates from Timiș or neighboring counties, who passed the baccalaureate exam with an average of 10, but also a large number of candidates who, during their high school studies, obtained distinctions at national and international Olympiads or completed their high school studies as promotion leaders, they decided to become students of the West University of Timișoara.
UVT supports the principle of equity and supports candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds to have access to university studies, so that this year, too, places were offered specially allocated to candidates graduating from high schools in rural areas (66 places for the cycle of undergraduate university studies ), to candidates of Roma ethnicity (15 places for the bachelor's degree cycle and 5 places for the master's degree cycle), but also for candidates from placement centers (15 places for the bachelor's degree cycle).
Moreover, it is well known that UVT is attentive to the needs of all its students, offering each year a significant number of scholarships from its own income, but also tuition or accommodation fee exemptions for all young people who want to study but have difficulties materials. In addition, to ensure that all applicants have made informed decisions about the university study program they will follow and are as well informed as possible about the opportunities available to them, we have made available to them free career counseling services both during the school year and throughout the admission process. The counseling sessions were supported by experts from the UVT Career Counseling and Guidance Center and could take place both online and physically, at the UVT headquarters or in the seven county admission centers.
