UVT resumes the conference series "Connect to the future": about "fake news", with Alina Bârgăoanu

The West University of Timișoara invites you Wednesday, September 13, 10:00 a.m, in Amphitheater A01, at the first event "Connect to the Future" from the new academic year. We are honored to have her as our guest Alina Bârgaoanu, communication and media expert, who will talk to us about "The danger of fake news". The moderator of the event, university professor Dr. Mădălin Bunoiu, UVT Vice-Chancellor, will provide an interactive and challenging discussion.

Alina Bârgăoanu is a university professor, dean of the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations (SNSPA); member of the advisory board of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO), affiliated member of the European Center of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, Helsinki; author of the volume "#FAKENEWS. The New Arms Race"; expert within the High-level Group to combat fake news and online disinformation - European Commission (2018). His areas of interest include fake news and online disinformation, strategic communication, technological and digital education, ways to regulate the online environment, the transatlantic relationship.

The "Connect to the Future" project aims to popularize science (especially the exact sciences), by means of an interactive dialogue between a moderator, the public and one or more specialists from the faculties and from the national and international scientific community. The chosen themes start from issues of interest to the community discussed in the media.

Also this month, the conference "On the humanistic potential of science" will take place, supported by Doru Căstăian, professor of socio-human sciences at the "Dimitrie Cuclin" Arts High School in Galati and at the "Vasile Alecsandri" National College in Galati, professor associate of critical thinking and bioethics at the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology of the "Lower Danube" University in Galati.

The events are part of the cultural program "At UVT, Culture is Capital!", included in the Cultural Program "Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture", the Oameni territory, the Reflections station, financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, co-financed by the Timiș County Council , through the TimCultura 2023 program.
