Friday, June 9, Youth House

About the specialization Performing Arts – Acting in German

Unique in the world, this specialization has been training, for thirty years, professional actors for theaters in Romania and in the area of German expression. In the center of attention are the discovery and development of the artistic personality of each individual student through improvisation exercises, role studies, performances in conventional and unconventional spaces, as well as internships in the country and abroad. Our teachers are actors, directors, theater people with extensive experience, who promote a direct connection with the actual work in the theater from the student days. Students work with numerous international artists, participate in festivals and carry out interdisciplinary projects. In the foreground are internationalization, permanent communication with European theater schools, genuine dialogue and exchange of know-how with them, total openness to new and quality.

About the show

The hour we didn't know about each other is a theater text - score of non-verbal actions - by the renowned Austrian playwright and writer Peter Handke, laureate of the Nobel Prize for Literature. This scenario was the starting point of our physical theater performance, which bears the same name, and gave us existential themes and vivid impulses to create a polyphonic performance, with visual and choreographic accents, in which a space of utopia is revealed theatrical, a space that forcefully pulls us out of isolation, a space of meeting the Other or searching for it. What do we hide, what do we reveal, what do we keep only to ourselves when we are exposed to external circumstances, when we become social beings?

The theater becomes the city square, where by chance the absurd everyday life spills out, reflected by the crowd - young people, children, soldiers, characters from films or cartoons, women, men, couples -, absorbed by routine, which suddenly discovers the explosion of the present and slips into awareness of existence.

Saturday, June 10, Youth House

Casa, dolce casa is a theater-dance show, created in collaboration with an international choreographer and presented on an outdoor stage. It aims to develop new audiences for the field of contemporary dance and lay the foundations for the accessibility of a constant cultural offer for the audience consuming dance performances. Based on the model of the story in the frame, the show reproduces various frames from the daily lives of the characters in a unique way, focusing on the lives of the characters influenced by other secondary characters, who are in inter- and co-dependent relationships.

Often we become witnesses of a frame, a moment, and based on it we build an impression of those involved. But just as often, the truth is much deeper, the picture is wider, and the moment is not a moment at all, but a long story. We see involved parents taking care of their child. Or a child they didn't want who is raised as a soldier and driven to despair by endless neglect at home. We see a guy in a wheelchair and a mother helping him. We see a happy couple just starting their journey. Or a man who chose a pretty face and forbids the woman to work because he is the main one and she is his trophy. Do they have anything in common besides the house they live in? Should we intervene? Or, do we pass by indifferently? The show, presented to the general public on an outdoor stage, with increased visual impact, will strengthen the presence of shows as a form of relevant artistic expression, as well as related events in the cultural landscape of Timișoara.
