World Social Assistance Day celebrated by UVT students, under the slogan "ÚBUNTU: I am because We are"

The Department of Social Assistance from the West University of Timișoara and the National College of Social Workers are organizing, on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, starting at 10:00, an event dedicated to the World Day of Social Assistance, under the slogan "UBUNTU: I am because We are ”, with the aim of promoting the role of social work, social solidarity and global connectedness, together with other social workers around the world.

In the context imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and online education during this quarantine period of the university city, in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, the event will take place online, through the Google Meet application, and is coordinated by Ms. university lecturer Dr. Loredana Tranca.

This year's overall theme was set by the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), namely: ÚBUNTU: I am because We are - Strengthening social solidarity and global connectedness. This is the first theme of The 2020-2030 Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development. The term "Úbuntu: I Am Because We Are", originates from the indigenous peoples of South Africa and represents a concept and philosophy that resonates with the social work perspective of the interconnectedness of all peoples and their environments.

It is a message that all people are interconnected and that our future depends on recognizing the involvement of all people in jointly building a sustainable, equitable and socially just future. Together we can change the world for this generation and for generations to come.
