Master Mihai Mălaimare proposes a living statue workshop for students of the Faculty of Music and Theater from UVT

- Press release -

The students of the West University of Timişoara, majoring in Performing Arts - Acting, from the Faculty of Music and Theater of UVT, participate in the living statue workshop created by master Mihai Mălaimare.

Held on May 10 and 11, 2022, at the Students' House of Culture in Timișoara, the workshop dedicated to this unique theatrical discourse is part of the LEGACY project, financially supported by JTI and Mrs. Gilda Lazăr. The project takes place in nine theater faculties in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with the aim of creating a collective moment of a living statue in festival mode (40 minutes).

The workshop is continued by the launch of the master's books: "Living Statue", "Golden Carriage" and "The Actor, the Jester, the Clown", which will take place on Wednesday, at 10 am, at the House of Culture of the Municipality of Timișoara. The moment of the launch is continued by a meeting with the students, who have the chance of a real dialogue with the great theater man.

"When we talk about inheritance we think of a material and spiritual transfer to someone younger who could use what he receives on his way through life. This project, however, is something else. I discovered a path, walked it alone, and found that it is very possible that there is still a long way to go. I want to share what I know with others, urging them to go up this road in turn and, without wasting time with the difficulties I had to overcome, be able to go much further than I did. I give what I know and with the hope that their youth and enthusiasm will help me not to stop. In this job we walk shoulder to shoulder and only the weight of the legacy must be carried, from a certain moment, by the youngest and strongest!”, says master Mihai Mălaimare.

UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The Western University of Timișoara proposes to the local community a series of events that have become well-known and appreciated, held under the banner "At UVT, Culture is Capital!". We consider it natural that the most important comprehensive university in the region offers the community artistic events and performances, valuable contributions, well received by the public, especially in the preamble of the European Cultural Capital – Timișoara 2023 program."
