More than 30 million lei (30.211.210,32 lei), from the funds intended for the call for projects "Grants for the digitization of universities", were contracted by the West University of Timișoara through the "Digital Community for Emerging Generations" project. No fewer than 38 laboratories will be created or equipped with state-of-the-art technology, hardware tools, software and top-of-the-line equipment at the service of emerging generations.
Highly specialized emerging technologies are well represented in the laboratories that UVT will build. Among these, we can mention technologies related to health, sports and well-being, immersive and augmented reality, robotics and software robotics, satellite data processing, biomonitoring but also cyber security and data protection.
A wide range of strategic investments that will be made from the amount obtained through this will allow to equip existing laboratories with tools and technologies designed to complement and form the experience of future professionals trained by the university. Practically all faculties within the UVT are covered, with these investments also benefiting already established laboratories, such as those of economic sciences, environment, social inclusion, marketing, multimedia, geomorphology, history and archaeology, geographic information systems and remote sensing, medical physics, etc.
UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "Technology has priority and will have a top-level architecture in the new laboratories of UVT. In addition, within the project of advanced digitization of the academic community, we will also focus on the twelve specialized training programs - six for students, respectively six for teaching and research staff, which complete the picture of an effort of vision and anticipation, all for setting the best conditions to benefit the academic community within the Western University of Timișoara."
