The Western University of Timișoara (UVT) participated in the General Meeting establishing the "National School for Nuclear Energy - SNEN" Association

The West University of Timișoara (UVT) participated, through the representative of the Faculty of Physics, Prof. Dr. Habil. Mihail Lungu, at the General Meeting establishing the "National School for Nuclear Energy - SNEN" Association. The event took place on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest.

The purpose of the Association sets as desirable the formation, promotion and support of education specific to the fields of activity represented by nuclear energy and/or its related fields, in order to increase the participation rate and integration on the European market of specialists in these fields of activity.

The General Assembly of the new association established the objectives and activities that SNEN it proposes to implement them, as well as the way of work that will be approached. Also, the founding members voted unanimously and signed the Constitutive Act and the Association Statute.

The event was attended by representatives of the twelve founding universities and representatives of several relevant institutions, NEA-OECD, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity, Societatea Națională Nuclearelectrica SA, FCN Pitesti, CNCAN, ANDR, RO POWER, RATEN, RATEN -CITON, IFIN-HH, ROMATOM. They were joined by students of the Politehnica University of Bucharest, interested in the field of energy.  

UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The field of nuclear energy represents a strategic specialization in the whole of top industries in Romania, prioritized for several decades and supported by several generations of researchers. The establishment of the National School for Nuclear Energy responds to an important objective, to transfer the knowledge and experience acquired by those who form the human capital of this field today to young people interested in the fascinating specialization of nuclear physics. We are optimistic and confident about the success of the new educational project, in which UVT is in the company of prestigious partners, the founding members of SNEN: National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, University of Bucharest, Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Alexandru University Ioan Cuza from Iasi, Ovidius University from Constanța, Valahia University from Târgoviște, University of Craiova, Technical University from Cluj-Napoca, "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, University of Petroșani and "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" Police Academy Bucharest."
