The Western University of Timisoara is among the first 6.3% of universities in the world, out of a total of 20,531 higher education institutions in the hierarchy made by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). For this reason, UVT was included in the top 2000 Center for World University Rankings CWUR, 2023 edition, occupying position 1282 internationally.
Only nine universities from Romania were included in this top, UVT being ranked among the top five universities in Romania.
CWUR measures the performance of universities based on 4 performance indicators:
- quality of education (25%),
- professional insertion of graduates (25%),
- quality of academic staff (10%) and
- research performance (40%).
This last indicator, research performance, is constituted as follows: research results – number of articles (10%), high quality publications – number of articles published in top journals (10%), research influence – number of articles published in leading journals high influence (10%) and citations – number of articles with high number of citations (10%).
The Center for World University Rankings is a leading organization located in the United Arab Emirates that provides policy advice, strategic insights and consulting services to governments and universities to improve educational and research outcomes. CWUR publishes a global university ranking, known for objectivity, transparency and consistency, being one of the 9 rankings officially recognized by the Ministry of National Education, by including its results in metaranking.

It is a result to which all the academics and researchers of our academic community have contributed, and the ranking places equal emphasis on education and research, with the 20.000 universities analyzed and ranked according to performance. It is one of the annual rankings that motivates us to achieve even more consistent results in the future."
