UVT and the Robotics Team of the National Pedagogical College "Carmen Sylva" Timișoara are organizing the fourth edition of Open Robotics Intelligent Grid

- Press release -

The Western University of Timișoara is a persistent promoter of innovation, adaptation to new technologies and the integration of new scientific discoveries in the education and research process. UVT is constantly developing sustainable partnerships with associations and organizations interested in participating in robotics competitions and demonstration sessions, educational exercises dedicated to technological excellence that motivate enthusiasts to accelerate their development and achieve performance.

We are happy to invite you to participate in public events within Open Robotics Intelligent Grid 2022 robotics camp, a project organized by the West University of Timișoara and the robotics team of the National Pedagogical College "Carmen Sylva" Timișoara, between September 1 and 3, in Timișoara. The opening of the series of events will take place on September 1, 10 a.m., at the Western University of Timișoara, amphitheater A11.

16 robotics teams from Romania will participate in the event, with over 80 participants and over 30 volunteers, and the entire course of the camp's activities is guided by the theme of the edition: "How do you make something that went wrong go well?" ".

Initiated in 2019 by UVT in collaboration with the robotics team of the "Carmen Sylva" National Pedagogical College, the Open Robotics Intelligent Grid reaches its 4th iteration. Open Intelligent Grid began as a learning adventure, following national debates with over 700 students. It then developed as a project platform for multiple collaborative fields, the most active being robotics, with involved participants from all over the country, with active partnerships from the private and pre-university educational environment.

Open Intelligent Grid opens a platform of activities intended for established technologies as well as emerging ones, with the aim of stimulating experiences of creation and development of ideas and technologies that could become reality. It thus represents a collaborative umbrella, stimulating interactions between the economic environment from various sectors (automotive, medical technologies, complex data), combining academic rigor, the enthusiasm of pupils and students, stimulating collaboration on all levels.

The robotics component started as an adventure organized in collaboration with the robotics team from the "Carmen Sylva" National Pedagogical College. Starting in 2019, the robotics section engages tech enthusiasts in projects designed to encourage creativity. The themes are different, they actively use practical components, combining skills, reuse of materials and hardware equipment, emerging technologies (additive printing, AI, specialized programming), but with a strong collaborative anchor, idea exchange and technological co-creation.

Starting from the initial experience, the concept is transformatively enhanced, having a strong footprint related to supply chains, use and reuse of components and technologies, transforming and streamlining workflows, using open technologies, including in experience exchanges with partners in companies, bringing to the focus of future professionals, both awareness of the flow of creation and elements of sustainable development.

On the last day of the event – On September 3, a public demo will be held in the Iulius Town premises. We invite you to join the teams participating in the Open Robotics Intelligent Grid 2022 and in this public demo event, where the robot prototypes will be presented, on Saturday, September 3, starting from at 15, inside the Iulius Town – Atrium area (in the basement).

In the 2022 edition of Open Robotics Intelligent Grid, we are joined by partners Flex, Continental Automotive, Atos, Iulius Mall and Hamilton Central Europe. The event is held in collaboration with BRD First Tech Challenge Romania and Nation through Education.

The rector of UVT, prof. univ. dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The robotics teams that have signed up for this edition of the Open Robotics Intelligent Grid will be eager to offer you demos of the robots they have built, in which they will invest a lot of ingenuity and practicality, for sure. We will all be waiting for you on Saturday, September 3, for the meeting with the talented young people gathered in the Robotics Camp organized by the West University of Timișoara and the team of the National Pedagogical College "Carmen Sylva" Timișoara."
