Representative students
Students are full partners of the Western University of Timișoara in all decision-making and consultative processes, having the right to choose their representatives and to be elected in the management structures of UVT and making part of the university community UVT.
Students are represented in the advisory, decision-making and executive structures of the West University of Timișoara, according to the provisions of the Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent amendments and additions, to the Code of student rights and obligations, the University Charter and the Regulation for the election of student representatives.
Students participate in university decision-making based on the following rights:
- the right to choose and be chosen in management structures of the university, according to the Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent amendments and additions;
- the right to be represented in the faculty council in a proportion of at least 25%, respectively in the university senate at a rate of 25%, under the terms of the Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent amendments and additions, and of the University Charter;
- the right to be represented in the managing university structures social services, including the commissions for accommodation, for the allocation of scholarships, for the allocation of thematic camps;
- the right to participate in the procedures regarding the establishment of the method of appointment a rector through representatives, as well as in the process of appointing him, regardless of the method of appointment, according to article 133, paragraph (2) of the Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent amendments and additions;
- the right to be inform and consult by the student representatives in relation to the decisions voted in the management structures of the institution of which they are a part.
According Regulations for the election of student representatives from UVT, representative offices elected by universal, direct and secret vote of students in within the UVT (at the level of the corresponding structure) are:
- head of group;
- head of an;
- representative in Faculty Council (minimum 25% of the total number of members of each such council, according to article 131, paragraph (9), letter a) of the Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent amendments and additions);
- representative in University Senate (25% of the total number of members of the Senate, according to article 132, paragraph (1) of the Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent amendments and additions);
- head of fireplace;
- representative in Council for University Doctoral Studies (CSUD) (2 out of 7 members, according to article 41, paragraph (1) of the Methodology regarding the elections of the management structures and functions of the Western University of Timișoara);
- representative in Councils of Doctoral Schools (CSD) (minimum 20% of the total number of members of each such council, according to article 22, paragraph (3) of the Methodology regarding the elections of the management structures and functions of the Western University of Timișoara);
Other student representation functions within UVT are:
- representative in Board of Directors and UVT Steering Committee;
- representative in department board (with permanent guest status, according to article 50, paragraph (8) of the UVT Charter);
- representative in The University Ethics and Deontology Commission of UVT (2 out of 11 members, according to Article 3 of the Organization and Operation Regulation of the Ethics and Deontology Commission University from UVT);
- representatives in Quality Assurance and Evaluation Commission at the UVT level (minimum 25% student representatives, appointed by the representative student organizations), according to article 227, paragraph (5), letter d of Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent changes and additions);
- representative in Committees for Quality Management at the level of UVT faculties (minimum 1 member);
- representative in awarding commissions a scholarships, distribution of places of accommodation, distribution of places of camps, granting a credits for volunteer activities and other social commissions;
- representative in other decision-making or advisory commissions/structures established at the UVT level or at the level of the UVT faculties.
Every academic year, between October and November, BONE (Students' Organization from the West University of Timișoara) organizes the project Democracy in UVT, in which student representatives are elected in the Faculty Councils, the University Senate, the Doctoral School Councils and the Council for Doctoral University Studies, as well as the heads of dormitories.
